1 BHK, 2 BHK and 3 BHK Local Shifting: How to Prepare

The number of bedrooms helps describe your home, but the contents define the move. Prepare a useful inventory whether you are shifting a compact flat or a larger household.

Three things to remember

  • Describe furniture and storage beyond the bedroom count.
  • Plan packing by room and priority.
  • Measure oversized items and difficult access points.

Use BHK as a starting description

A 1 BHK may contain substantial appliances and storage, while a 3 BHK may be sparsely furnished. Tell the mover how many rooms are occupied and which items belong to the property owner. Include balconies, lofts, utility areas and boxed goods already in storage. This prevents a quotation based on a room label from missing a large part of the load. Attach photographs where written descriptions are not enough.

Prepare a compact 1 BHK move

Focus first on furniture that determines the handling plan: bed, wardrobe, sofa, refrigerator and washing machine. Estimate carton quantities after sorting clothes, utensils and books, rather than before. A compact home often has limited floor space for packed cartons, so leave a clear passage to the exit. Identify where completed cartons can be staged without blocking lift access or forcing heavy goods to be moved repeatedly.

Organise a 2 BHK move by room

Give each room a short label and use it consistently on cartons and the inventory. Separate everyday necessities from spare-room belongings so the packing order remains practical. Confirm whether beds, desks or wardrobes require dismantling and which components should remain together. If family members are packing their own belongings, use one shared list to prevent duplicate numbering. Discuss the destination layout before large furniture is carried inside.

Plan a larger 3 BHK household

More rooms can mean more simultaneous decisions, so nominate one coordinator and assign room owners. Review fragile collections, multiple beds and large dining furniture early. Describe any items going to another address or storage separately. A larger move may need a staged packing schedule; ask the team to review the actual work before assuming that everything will happen in a single short visit. Keep the agreed scope tied to the final inventory.

Check dimensions and service responsibilities

Measure oversized furniture and the relevant doorways, lift cabin and stair turns. Share measurements rather than assuming a piece can be dismantled safely. Confirm which packing, loading, unloading and reassembly tasks are included. Appliance installation should be discussed separately with suitable professionals. Read furniture and appliance preparation and the building access guide for the checks that a bedroom count cannot explain.

Prepare a quotation-ready summary

Send the home size, item list, photographs, both addresses, floors, access and preferred timing. Add special instructions such as a glass cabinet, heavy books or a long walk from the vehicle. Make clear which goods you will move yourself. Use Get a Quote for your household move and keep the local shifting checklist beside the inventory. Revise the summary whenever the goods or addresses change.

Common questions

Does every 2 BHK require the same vehicle?

No. The actual goods, packing volume and handling arrangement need review.

Can I use room count to compare prices?

Use it alongside an item list and access details, not as the only basis.

Should cartons have room labels?

Yes. Destination room labels help the receiving team place belongings efficiently.
